St Paul's Girls' School Digital Archives
WEBSITE OF PAULINA
Welcome to the website for Paulina, the primary pupil/student magazine of St Paul’s
Girls’ School. The first issue dates from July, 1904, six months after our unofficial
opening on the 19th January, and Paulina has appeared regularly ever since, war
years included. For some decades it was produced monthly or termly, but from the
1950s it has been an annual. The editors were initially senior pupils and usually
included the head girl, but, again since the 1950s, one or two teachers have been
editors, supported by a team of students.
The journal is an invaluable source for anyone interested in this school in particular
and for independent girls’ education in general. There is plenty of factual content
here, shot through with less tangible evidence of cultural attitudes and behaviour.
Current Paulinas and staff should log in using their password; Old Paulinas and
former staff should do so with their OP Connect password. If you belong to neither
group and would like to consult the website, please e-mail: archives@spgs.org
Observations about use of Paulina would be welcome. If you have any questions or
